Why it exists
Military mission planning is built on time, fuel, heading, and power before anyone straps in. Arithmetic and attention to detail are what get a pilot there on time, with fuel, power, and options, as planned.
When you move into a civilian cockpit, the planning tools and the support structure usually don't come with you. The software that did that work in uniform isn't sitting on the civilian side. Meridian™ puts that planning back in reach: time, distance, and heading, leg by leg, on the device.
Charts and moving maps have a home. Detailed mission planning hasn't. Meridian fills that void. Not a replacement for your EFB. A different product class.
Who it's for
If you came up planning missions in the military and now fly in civilian aviation, that discipline comes with you.
The military often spends hours, sometimes days, planning a single mission. Meridian is built so you can do in minutes what used to take hours by hand.
Whether you're on active duty or flying civilian, Meridian puts a mission planning computer in your pocket or flight bag. EFBs are already standard in the cockpit, so carrying one more app isn't a stretch. When weather forces a diversion, or you end up somewhere you didn't plan on, you still have portable flight planning with you.
EFBs are built around charts, weather, and moving maps. Very few build in detailed mission planning: back-planning to a time on target, fuel to a point of no return, and the calculations you'd rather not do by hand when you're in a hurry. Meridian does that work for you.
If you didn't come up that way, you're still in the right place. Owner-operators and working pilots who already plan hard, or who skip the math when the clock is tight, get the same time, fuel, and heading depth.

There's more in the app
Meridian also handles time zones and automatic magnetic variation for each leg. Worldwide airport, navaid, and waypoint databases. Downloadable terrain data for elevation awareness wherever you fly. Fuel check timers and stopwatches are built in. So is time-on-target back-planning, plus a pilot-entered emergency altitude reference for IIMC (inadvertent instrument meteorological conditions) contingency planning.
Conversion tools and a point-from-known bearing and distance (PBD) tool are in the app today. So are viewing themes for day and night flying, including NVG mode and red night mode, with a built-in dimmer so you don't have to fumble with device brightness at the controls.
There's more in the app than this page has room for, and we're still adding to it. A lot has changed and improved since the first build.
Coming next
Weight and balance, and an illumination timing tool, are on the roadmap. They are not in the app yet.
